“We werden zeer warm onthaald door de gepassioneerde Catharina. Ze heeft ervoor gezorgd dat we een interessante uitleg kregen en een prachtige ervaring op zee hebben gehad. We hebben veel tijd genomen om te genieten van de dolfijnen die rondom de boot kwamen meezwemmen. We hebben zelfs het geluk gehad een walvis te spotten! Deze DayDream Experience was het hoogtepunt van onze reis!”

3.Observation of whales and dolphins in island Pico

★★★★★★★★★★4.7 · 76 reviews · 2.5 hours · from $70

From Bela Vista Travel in Lajes do Pico, you board a fast boat for a 2.5-hour search for whales and dolphins around southern Pico. English and Portuguese guides explain animal behavior as you go. Expect open-sea conditions, possible speeds near 38 mph, and no food, drinks, or smoking onboard.

“Insgesamt eine tolle Tour mit vielen Walsichtungen. Von unserem Guide hätte ich mir noch mehr Erläuterungen zu den Walen gewünscht. Ich empfehle die Tour aber auf jeden Fall weiter, wenn man einigermaßen seetüchtig ist. Die Fahrt mit dem Boot bei teilweise 38 mph ist ein zusätzlicher Kick wenn man Tempo mag.”

Sail from Puerto Calero on a quiet, emission-free 14-meter catamaran with up to 12 people. You’ll spend three to four hours scanning open water for whales and dolphins, with snacks, drinks, crew commentary, and a hydrophone used when animals are close and vocal.

“Booked this trip last minute as I really wanted to see the whales and dolphins and the advert made it seem special. The boat was clean and well kept and the crew friendly and informative. We sailed out a long way and with the sea breeze and sun disappearing behind clouds quite often it did get a bit nippy out there so best to take layers in case you need to wrap up at times. Snacks and drinks were offered throughout the trip which was fab and we managed to catch the spout of a Brydes whale at one point on the way back. No dolphins seen unfortunately. I was…”

Whale & Dolphin Observation on Electric Sailing Boat in Denia - What wildlife sightings are really like

5.Whale & Dolphin Observation on Electric Sailing Boat in Denia

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 10 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $114

Join Sophia and her crew for a four-hour morning sail from Dénia aboard a quiet electric boat. Learn about whales, dolphins, fish, and seabirds while exploring Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve. Fresh fruit, dry fruit, soft drinks, water, and beer are included. Wildlife sightings are possible but never guaranteed.

“The guide was great and authentic. I also enjoyed the (short) time when we were sailing and otherwise the silent working of the electric engine. However almost nothing to see even having spend 4h on the sea (perhaps not the right season or time of day?). Also, ten people on such a small boat is certainly too much. This type of yacht is build for maximum 2 guests. For the price I had imagined at least some luxury / space.”
